"We hired CCG because it was obvious that they understood our business and our industry and were the kind of guys we could work with - honest and aggressive."

"We reached out to MESA based on their size and excellent reputation in the ED sector.  While they were well aware of their strategic options, they had little firsthand knowledge of how private equity could help them achieve both their personal and professional goals.  We greatly enjoyed working with the guys from MESA and are excited for them and their new partners at Atlanta Equity"

The professionals at CCG worked diligently in representing their client's interests, delivering what we anticipate will prove to be an exceptional long-term partnership for all MESA stakeholders.  As our investment represented MESA's first foray with institutional investors, CCG played a key role in conveying new and complex concepts to their client in a timely and effective manner.  It was clear to us from the start that CCG had an abundance of experience representing owners of closely-held businesses.  The CCG folks are seasoned; they effectively anticipate issues that arise, negotiate vigorously on their client's behalf, yet are straight shooters every step of the way.  We would certainly value the opportunity to work with Brian Corbett and his CCG colleagues on future transactions."

The company began by staffing just one or two small hospital emergency rooms, but quickly grew as their hospital clients recognized the benefits of MESA's differentiated approach. The founders focused on recruiting top-notch physicians interested in becoming part of the community in which they worked and tirelessly improving emergency room metrics - from reduced wait times, to fewer patients leaving without being seen, to improved hospital admittances. In little more than a decade, MESA grew to be the largest privately-held provider of outsourced emergency room services in the state of Kentucky. As the company grew, the founders continued to add top performers to the ranks of ownership, ultimately having seven physician owners.

After achieving phenomenal organic growth, the majority owners decided to seek out a partner that could bring growth capital and the additional business acumen they felt would allow the company to grow even faster, taking advantages in the marketplace without sacrificing their commitment to quality of care. As transaction activity was increasing in the healthcare services sector, CCG made contact with one of the majority owners to discuss their options in terms of strategic growth and liquidity. The process that CCG ran on behalf of MESA's owners was geared toward identifying a well-matched partner who would support the growth of the MESA brand and corporate culture both organically as well as via targeted acquisitions. By interviewing a select number of healthcare-focused private equity groups, the principals were able to identify the group best suited to helping them achieve their goals. Ultimately Atlanta Equity was chosen due to their tremendous experience with physician-led healthcare service companies as well as an intimate knowledge of the markets MESA serves and common connections to the University of Kentucky.
